Allyson HartPrincipal, JP Manning Elementary SchoolMs. Allyson Hart has been a leader in public education for more than a decade, including within Boston Public Schools. Before becoming principal at the Manning on July 1, 2022, Allyson was the Assistant Head of School at Excel High School. Prior to Excel High School, Allyson was a Principal at the Lawrence School with Public Schools of Brookline. In addition, she spent 10 years as the Assistant Principal for the Blackstone Elementary School.

Allyson has devoted 15 years to Boston Public Schools. She began her educational career at the Curley Middle School. Her first teaching position was as an ELA teacher where she designed and taught differentiated ELA curriculum. As the Assistant Principal of the Blackstone Elementary School, she honed her instructional leadership skills. She has led data analysis meetings around interpreting and using data to make decisions and action plans regarding curriculum, instruction, and behavior. She was the lead contact and support for training and implementation of school-wide SEL programs, including Second Steps, and PBIS+Open Circle. Allyson has also coordinated and facilitated professional development opportunities that addressed behavior modification, cultural competency, social/emotional wellness, and mental health.
At her most recent post at Excel High School, Allyson advocated for the academic advancement of all students with a focus on teaching and learning that elicits quality experiences for students that are culturally competent, relevant, standards-driven, and engaging. She developed and implemented a year-long, school-wide professional development arc of learning. She has extensive knowledge and experience in trauma-informed practices and tier 3 Restorative Justice that supported students and staff who were impacted by severe trauma and need additional support. Her focus on students, families and community was evident in the protocols and systems she created and managed as part of the safe and effective functioning of the school.
