The Library

We are looking for volunteers to assist in getting our school library automated!

This entails cataloging all the books in the library online. Once this is done, it enables us to scan student books in and out (doing away with the borrowers cards), teachers are able to see what books are available in the library. The information is stored in the cloud.

In order to do this, we are looking for volunteers that were trained and now willing to spend a few hours a week or month actually scanning/cataloging the books.

This library project will take months, so as many volunteers that can commit will be really appreciated!!

We will be updating this page with more information about future trainings and times for scanning and cataloging.

You can contact Patti Cahill (pcahill2@bostonpublicschools.org) for more information.

Genre Challenge Information - March

The Genre Challenge for February is Realistic Fiction. Realistic fiction is a type of fiction story that can possibly happen in real life. Like any other fiction story, realistic fiction is also a made up story but the characters and events in the story seem to be real or believable. The plot and events in the story relate to real life happenings.

The challenge is to have your child read at least 3 books, in this month, of this particular genre. Once your child finishes reading a book, please have them fill out the Genre Challenge form (click to download).

Once the form is filled out, they can bring it to Mrs. Cahill.

At the Birthday Book Assemblies, we will call up all children that have met the challenge and recognize the hard work they have done!

The Genre Challenge forms for March are due no later than Monday, March 25th.

We are doing this to broaden our student's knowledge in literature. This is not mandatory, but please encourage your child to participate! Any questions, feel free to ask us!

Thank you, and happy reading.
